How To Prepare for Your First Tiger Safari?

You have decided to try something new. You book a day safari at Jharana Jungle Lodge, and you’re excited. You can’t wait to get on an open jeep and wander into the largest national park in Maharashtra, looking for the famous tigers of Tadoba.

It’s great to be excited, but there are a few things you should prepare for before going on your first tiger safari. Here are a few tips you should take into account before you arrive at Jharana for your day safari:

  1. Safari Season

Preparation starts before you’ve even booked your safari. It’s important to pick the right season to visit Tadoba for a safari. June to October is generally considered the off-season, and the season starts in October.

The winter months are considered to be a good time to visit Tadoba since the weather’s pleasant and you can sight a number of tigers. March to May is considered to be the best season to sight tigers here.

  1. Clothing

If you’re visiting in the months of March to May, your open jeep safari is going to be hot. Wear light cotton clothes, a hat and full sleeve tops.

You can be less strict with your clothing in the winter months.

  1. Insect Repellants

Tadoba is a jungle, so it’s a given that there are going to be a number of insects and mosquitoes hounding you on the safari. Carry an insect and mosquito repellent cream for a pest-free safari.

  1. Camera

If you fancy yourself a photographer, you not only need to have a good camera but also good lenses. The ideal lenses to carry range from 150 mm to 600 mm.

Jharana Jungle Lodge offers a number of stay packages in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, ranging from 1 night to 3 nights at some of the most luxurious cottages in Tadoba.
