The feline family of animals is huge and  Tigers  are one of them. Tigers have their own class even though lions are considered the king of the jungle. Their huge physique, yellow striped body, and royal walk captures everyone around. However, tigers are one of the calmest and solitary animals. Although they are active during the daytime, they are also known to be nocturnal. They are good swimmers and love to stay in water for long hours. Tigers have several species and hybrids have been created over a period of time. Tiger is one of the largest felines among the cat family. Tiger cubs are born blind and they get their eyesight on the sixth or 14 th  day after birth. The average age expectancy of a tiger is around 25 years of age. Tigers also mate with other cats and hence hybrids are formed. They are surely one of the fastest runners as they run for around 60 km per hour to hunt their prey. TADOBA OPEN IN MONSOONS 19 August 2014 Good news for all those who want to visit Tadoba tiger reserve, the only park open in the monsoon. Now Forest Dept has opened routes from Moharli gate - Khatoda gate- Tadoba Lake - Pandharpauni- Navegaon road (grassland) up to Navegaon gate. This is about 40kms road open for visitors in monsoon with good sighting chances on the main road, at Tadoba Lake, and the Pandharpauni & Navegaon grasslands.

They could go extinct. Back in 2006, a huge campaign was run across India to “Save Tigers”. The campaign has been successful, with the population of tigers rising to 1,706 in 2010 and to 2,226 in 2014. India’s tiger reserves now house around 70% of the world’s tiger population. But that’s not the end of “Save Tigers”. According to scientists working towards tiger conservation in India, 41 out of 50 tiger reserves in India could go extinct. India boasts of 50 tiger reserves, but scientists have found that only 9 out of those 50 have enough tiger population to sustain growth in breeding and avoid extinction. The criteria is as follows: The tiger reserve should have at least 20 breeding units in order to qualify as being a safe reserve for tigers. A breeding unit is a unit of one male and one female tiger.
